Ross Macdonald, a sophomore at Valor Christian High School in Castle Rock, Colorado is a promising up and coming junior golfer who is sure to be a top pick for college golf recruiting in the coming years. He has been named the number one recruit by College Golf Scholarship Advisors and is on his way to playing Division 1 golf. Aside from being a great golfer, Ross is an excellent student, with a 3.2 GPA after two years of high school, and was also the recipient of the Thomas Edison Mathematics Award last year. Along with excellent academics, Ross is an accomplished golfer, with a lowest score of 66, high score of 89 and as only a sophomore in high school, he has earned a +1.1 handicap. He has competed in and been a top contender in many of the country’s most prestigious junior golf tournaments, including the Colorado Junior Ryder Cup 2010-2011, RMJGT Junior Ryder Cup 2010-2011, Represented Colorado in Junior Americas Cup 2012 Banbury, Idaho, Callaway Junior Worlds 2010, and the Optimist Junior Worlds 2011. Ross also received All State honors at CHSAA 4A State Championship and participated in the Team runner ups 2011-2012 and CJGA Tournamemt of Champions 2011-2012.
Ross hopes play Division 1 golf and plans to major in Business and Finance. In an interview after a recent junior tournament with the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour, Ross was asked what his plans concerning golf were for after high school. “I am dedicated to playing at the highest level and I have the work and practice ethic and passion to chase my dreams. I want to go as far as I can with golf. Division 1 college golf is the next step in that process.” Said Ross. Ross’ scores at major tournaments speak for themselves; All State honors at 4A State Championship, 75-73, 1st at the Kent Invitational at Saddle Rock, 68, 2nd at the Haywhacker Championship 2011-2012, 80-72, 78-72, 2nd at the 2012 CGA Junior Stroke Play Championship, 71-77-74, 2012 CGA Junior Match Play Championship, Quarterfinalist, 1st CJGA at Highland Meadows, 72-72, 5th at 2012 CJGA Collegiate High School Invitational hosted by CU, 78-75-74, all of which show Ross’ skill and consistency in his golf game.
