Fort Mill, SC – May 2, 2013. The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) traveled to Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend where drivers conquered a re-vamped track design. Team GT’s Carl Renezeder maintained perfection in 2013 as he went four for four in Pro 4 action and claimed a podium finish in the Pro 2 class. California-native, Casey Currie, finessed his way to two second-place finishes while overtaking the ProLite points lead. It was another wild weekend where dirt wasn’t the only thing flying.
Saturday’s round 3 racing was full of cheers, spills and thrills. Renezeder looks to be in championship form as he blazed his way from fifth to first in Pro 4 competition to begin the weekend in victory lane. There was no shortage of door-to-door racing in ProLite as Team GT’s Ryan Beat started from the front row while Currie started a little deeper in the field. Heated battles sprouted up throughout the field but Currie was a man on a mission and he powered his way to a second-place finish while Beat was relegated to fourth after late race contact with Sheldon Creed.
Pro 2 competition was action-packed. For the first half of the race, two trucks on Red Letter Grabbers rode comfortably in the top five. Renezeder and Robby Woods were running fourth and fifth on a re-start with Woods briefly moving into third before catching a rut and flipping his No. 99 Lucas Slick Mist/General Tire Chevrolet off the course. Woods landed on all four Grabbers and continued back onto the track while Renezeder made the move to third with one lap to go. Renezeder claimed his second podium of the day finishing third.
Round 4 saw just as many battles as round 3. Renezeder danced his way through the Pro 4 field to once again claim victory. The win put him at four for four in Pro 4 competition this season with the overall points lead. Beat and Currie once again raced side-by-side in ProLite in a fierce battle for third. As the white flag waved, Beat’s truck came to a stop bringing out a caution and a green, white, checkered finish. In the final three laps, Currie maneuvered his way to a second-place finish, his second podium of the weekend. The finish also launched Currie into the ProLite points lead.
Team GT returns to LOORRS action in a few weeks when the series visits Lake Elsinore May 17-19.
