Tokyo (April 19, 2013) - Bridgestone Corporation announced today that its subsidiary, Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd., will relocate the Changzhou Plant of Changzhou Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd., to an alternate area in Changzhou City. The total investment, including the relocation, will be approximately 500 million yuan, and the plant will begin production in the second half of 2014. As part of the relocation plan, production capacity at the plant is scheduled to increase to approximately 1,000,000 units per year*. Also, the new Changzhou Plant will be built with an emphasis eco-friendly construction.

Currently, Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd. produces bicycles at three plants in Japan and also the Changzhou Plant in China. Through this increase in capacity, its production and supply system will be further optimized. Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd. produces high-quality bicycles, centered on the production of high-value-added products in Japan. Meanwhile, the Changzhou Plant is working to strengthen its competitiveness by increasing productivity, centered on the production of bicycles for general use.

The Bridgestone Group will continue working to build a system for the rapid supply of products that meet market demand.
