Everett, WA --- After collecting over 19 ½ tons of end-of-life electronics in January of 2012, McClain Insurance Services decided to “do it again”:
The community is invited to bring used computers and electronics to a FREE Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 from 10 am until 2pm. The event will be held at McClain Insurance Services: 10410 19th Ave SE, Everett, WA.
“Last year, despite freezing temperatures and snow, over 1,000 local residents joined us in responsibly disposing of their end-of-life computers, monitors, TV’s and cell phones,” recalls Claudia McClain.
“Our team was thrilled to see the community’s involvement in our Electronics Recycling Day! However, none of us could have guessed that we were to collect 19.5 tons of electronics over the course of 4 short hours!! This single event has kept dozens of cubic yards of hazardous waste out of our landfills and prevented contamination of air, soil and water.”
The community’s appreciation hasn’t stopped. McClain Insurance Services has received dozens of inquiries about a repeat event since last year’s monumental success.
“We are grateful that we are able to bring this service to our neighborhood! We have found a great and reliable partner in local electronics recycler, E-Waste, LLC.” says Claudia McClain.
Just before the end of tax season and in time for Earth Day, McClain Insurance hopes to not only make a contribution to consumer safety and ID Theft prevention, but also to help reduce the environmental impact of continually evolving technology.
As today’s new gadgets quickly become yesterday’s old technology, consumers invest in upgrades while over 82% of electronic devices fill up landfills and incinerators, releasing mercury, lead, cadmium and other harmful substances.
Electronic devices such as Desktop Computers, laptops, TVs, computer monitors and cell phones can be recycled FREE of charge. Simply drop them off at the event.
Items such as printers, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, small microwaves and various other household electronics that are NOT covered under the Washington State program will be accepted for a $5 fee.
