CHICAGO - Applications are available for the ALA President’s Award for Advocacy, sponsored by United for Libraries. Applications are due April 15, 2013.
This award honors and recognizes statewide advocacy for libraries with $1,000 and an honorable mention by the ALA president at the Opening General Session of the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
The winning campaign will have been successfully implemented during 2011 or 2012 and will have engaged citizens and librarians from across the state to make the case for state library funding, as well as show significant participation by citizens in making the case for libraries. The campaign will have resulted in either an increase in state funding for libraries or a decrease or elimination of a proposed reduction in state funding for libraries.
