  • South Carolina National Safety Council recognizes Fort Mill, SC-based Continental Tire at their sixth annual Alive at 25 Coalition Benefit Dinner.

Fort Mill, SC – November 9, 2012.  Continental Tire was recognized by the South Carolina National Safety Council (SCNSC) at the sixth annual Alive at 25 Coalition Benefit Dinner for their continued support of the “Alive at 25” program.  The Fort Mill, SC-based tire company received the Leadership Award which acknowledges, “A company that has affected the lives of so many by taking the lead in promoting education through the Alive at 25 program.”

“Last night, I had the privilege of accepting the Leadership Award on behalf of Continental Tire,” said Bill Caldwell, vice president of marketing and sales, Continental Tire the Americas.  “Supporting ‘Alive at 25’ is a great way for Continental Tire to give back to our local community.  We’re proud to partner with the South Carolina National Safety Council to help reduce fatalities and educate young drivers on their responsibility behind the wheel.  We sincerely hope our efforts will help prevent any more needless and tragic deaths.”

To date, Continental Tire has helped thousands of local high school students participate in the life-saving program free of charge and in fact, the program has become mandatory in York County schools.

“Alive at 25” is a young driver intervention program that zeroes in on drivers between the ages of 15 and 24 - the group most likely to be involved in fatal collisions.  “Alive at 25” is a survival course developed by the National Safety Council and is designed to prevent the number one killer of teens, automobile crashes.  The course is taught by off duty Deputy Sheriffs, and Municipal Police Officers and is delivered in one 4 ½ hour program which focuses on the behaviors and decision-making paradigms that young drivers and passengers display behind the wheel.
