Ohio Artist Gains U.K Recognition in British Vogue with New Line of Dark and Elegant Alpaca Cuffs
Ohio fiber artist's dark and elegant felted alpaca cuffs chosen for inclusion in British Vogue's must have fashion accessories of the season for November and December

This eco friendly fashion accessory was chosen as one of "This Season's Must Haves" in the November 2012 issue of Vogue U.K., as well as their December issue.
Rosy Toes Designs is owned by Ohio artist and designer, Lucy Chapman. For her submission to Vogue U.K., Chapman chose her new line of dark and elegant alpaca cuffs. The cuffs are in an edgy bohemian style, a small departure from her floral designs. Originally designed and submitted to the stylist of ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars for consideration in the show, Chapman says she wanted to design a a fashion accessory that was luxurious, elegant and enjoyable to wear, while at the same time, were practical and eco-friendly. Chapman chose baby alpaca for the task. It is extremely soft, raised sustainably, and adjusts to both warmer and cooler temperatures. They are perfect for texting, photography, and layering. Says Chapman, "These cuffs are a meld of function and luxury you can feel good about wearing. And I love the swirls of mulberry on black - absolutely stunning!"
The cuffs are reflective of Chapman's playful use of natural fibers in her luxuriously functional art. Her fibers of choice includes felted wool and alpaca, recycled silk, and up-cycled cashmere and lambswool sweaters. "I've been exploring more with using the knit and felted wool or alpaca as a blank canvas for wool roving. Using the wool as my 'paint', I create images and textures on the bag or accessory. I love how the resulting piece is a little different every time."
