Billionaires Row Sponsors 61st Annual Coral Gables Bar Association President's Ball
/EINPresswire.com/ Miami, Florida - October 9, 2012 -- On Saturday October 6, 2012, the Coral Gables Bar Association held its 61st Annual President's Ball. The gala event was hosted at the beautifully renovated historic Coral Gables Country Club and was attended by attorneys, judges and community leaders, including Mayor Jim Cason of the City of Coral Gables.
"I have been following this venerable organization for the past few years, and it is an honor to support their premier event," said William Benson.
"The Association has been doing great things in the community and I am looking forward to supporting them this year."
The Coral Gables Bar Association, founded in 1952, is an organization of attorneys who join together to promote education, professionalism and charity. The 2012 President's Ball featured keynote speaker documentary filmmaker Billy Corben, known for "Cocaine Cowboys,"
"The U," which is about the University of Miami football team, and the recently released film "Broke," about professional athletes' financial difficulties. Corben's speech was met by laughter from the sold-out crowd of two-hundred, particularly when he asked the Mayor, "I have my pickup truck parked outside, is that going to be ok?"
The directors and officers were sworn into office by Judge Celeste Hardee Muir and presented with certificates of appreciation by Mayor Cason. Said 2012-2013 president Jane Muir "I am grateful to have been selected to lead this organization, and it is the support of organizations like Billionaires Row, who have a commitment to excellence and to community service, that have made this a spectacular event." Muir is the 61st president of the association.
Billionaires Row Chief Operating Officer Dan Felix gave a toast to the success of the 2012-2013 directors and officers at the conclusion of the event. Said Felix, "I grew up spending time in Haiti where my grandfather was a judge, and when I was a child, it was my ambition to become a lawyer and a judge. I saw all of the good work that my grandfather did, and I know that this room is filled with people working to make the world a better place. Because of that, it is an honor to support the incoming president and this organization."
