/EINPresswire.com/ LostMoney has set its goal for the recovery of unclaimed property at $35 billion. This goal can result in over $3.5 billion to worthwhile charities. Since 1996, LostMoney.com has assisted millions of consumers connect with the $1 trillion dollars in unclaimed money.
LostMoney.com, a nonprofit organization has set its 2013 goal for the recovery of unclaimed money at $35 billion. And with its history of a pay-it-forward free consumer service, this new goal can result in over $3.5 billion in donations to worthwhile charities and humanitarian causes across the country. Online since 1996, LostMoney.com has assisted millions of consumers reconnect with their portion of the estimated $1 trillion dollars in unclaimed property here in America. The $35 Billion represents the estimated unclaimed property held by the various state unclaimed property offices which those offices have been unsuccessful in returning this lost money to the rightful owners.
According to Wayne Warrington, Consumer Advocate for LostMoney.com, "we have been very successful over the past few years with our "pay-it-forward" business model, recovering over $200 million and directing millions in charitable donations. However, this is not enough. Americans are still feeling the effects of our economic down turn during the past 4 years and with our unemployment and under-employment rate sitting around 15 percent of our work force, the money being held by the various government offices needs to be returned this coming year to ease the financial burden of our citizens."
"LostMoney.com has established sponsorships with a small group of national business organizations, non-profits and for profit groups, each of which are dedicated in assisting our organization with funding in order for us to reach over 10 million consumers this coming year and producing over 70 million free lost money reports. To accomplish our goal, LostMoney plans to hire an estimated 300 American Veterans to handle the labor intensive research needed to process consumer unclaimed property claims. Our director of Veteran Affairs, Vince Barnett, has already met with the officials at the VA here in Arizona and we have started to receive referrals of qualified applicants," says Warrington.
Warrington further stated, "I started in this business of assisting consumers with their unclaimed property claims in 1979, and over the years I have established a success rate in excess of 90 percent when it comes to finding the rightful owners of money held by the state offices. The key is simply having the right resources and time. The state administrators, which I have worked with over the years to improve the laws governing unclaimed property, have unfortunately a success rate over the years "on average" below 10 percent. To me, this is unacceptable and so we have reached out to large corporate and non-profit groups and asked for their help in making sure the money held by the government is returned to the people."
