Press Release - U.S. Transportation Secretary LaHood Announces $5.4 Million Grant for Roseburg Regional Airport

WASHINGTON - U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today announced a $5.4 million Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant to relocate a taxiway at Roseburg Regional Airport.

"This infrastructure investment in Roseburg Regional Airport will help enhance safety for travelers using the airport," Secretary LaHood said. "Investing in our nation's airports also promotes economic growth."

The FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant will fund the relocation of Taxiway A, including the replacement of aircraft parking areas that will be displaced by the taxiway construction. The taxiway relocation will improve safety by moving the taxiway further from the runway. Construction will begin in May 2013 and will take approximately 120 days.

"This grant will allow the airport to meet current runway-to-taxiway separation standards," said Acting FAA Administrator Michael Huerta.

AIP provides $3.35 billion in annual funding for projects that are vital to maintaining the safety, capacity, and environmental stewardship of our nation's airports. More than 3,300 airports are eligible for AIP grants benefiting commercial passengers, cargo operations, and general aviation activities throughout the nation.
