The highly anticipated release of Lamborghini's next supercar - the Aventador - weakened the knees of car critics and auto fanatics last year when it was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. With all the technological advances inherited from previous vehicle releases, combined with the stealth of a 7-speed automated manual, V12 6.5 litre, 694 horsepower engine, the Italian car giant had already received 18 months worth of car production in the initial phases of vehicle debut.
The Motor Report called it a 'hero' car, and it's obvious how it won the title. In July 2012 the Aventador - meaning Spanish bull with courage - will star in Christopher Nolan's last Batman The Dark Knight Rises, with Australia premiering the movie feature one day before the rest of the world. The 'ferociously quick' supercar will make an appearance as Bruce Wayne's day time mode of transport, rumoured to be sporting the grey model (pictured below) of the LP700-4 range.
When asked about the appearance of the Lamborghini supercar in the Batman film, Just Car Insurance spokesperson Mark Behr commented "The new Aventador would be at the top of the wish list for many car lovers, especially those with an interest in high performance vehicles."
The LP700-4 clocks in at 349kms p/hr, with a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds. It retails in Europe for €255,000, between £201,900 - £248,000 in the UK, and $379,700 in the U.S. One of the mentioned highlights of the LP700-4 is the start button ignition, positioned confidently amongst a hexagon-themed dash and LCD dash panel.
The carbon-fibre shell of the Lamborghini supercar has been likened to the structuring of a Formula One vehicle with its push-rod suspension, but with lighter features. The engine is manufactured from an aluminium-silicon alloy, which makes it considerably lighter for bonnet faculty, married with a similar weight-saving decision to not build with a dual-clutch.
For those not lucky enough to drive the real thing, what Top Gear describes as the closest thing to a ride in a stealth fighting jet - there will be opportunity to view the LP700-4 on cinema screens when The Dark Knight Rises is released Australia-wide on July 19, 2012.
