Emotional Intelligence at the Super Mature Stage is None Other Than Wisdom/Selflessness.

1) Self-awareness is a tool as old as philosophy, for improving one's own self. Self-awareness is also an innate property of the pure/wise-self.
2) Managing our emotions: It means that there is an animal nature in man that needs to be controlled and managed. How does managing pure love sound? Managed love is no pure love! Similarly managing our emotions means it is like the superior manager directing and controlling less skilled workers. Which means there is an inferior less skilled element in man's human nature. Yes indeed there is an inferior element in man's human nature but for the vast majority it is not due to our DNA or genes, it is due to the emotional baggage in our brains. Emotional baggage that can be removed.
3) Empathy. Empathy is an innate attribute of wisdom/selflessness. It cannot be taught just as wisdom cannot be taught. It has to be cultivated and nurtured. Empathy is an innate part of the pure self. By making man wise we create empathy automatically. Trying to teach empathy is like building a house on clay. It is like teaching brass to behave like gold.
4) Social skills are also an innate expression of the pure self. Though some social skills do need to be learned such as the cultural skills of different societies.

Emotional intelligence education is being taught just like regular intelligence education and yet it is showing benefits in spite of our claim that it is the wrong approach. Well the proof is in the percentage of students who are benefiting:

It is clear that the mature and super mature students are benefiting! Those who are in dire need of emotional intelligence education, students with emotionally challenged brains are the ones who do not benefit much from the way we are teaching emotional intelligence!

Those were days when the preeminence of IQ as the standard of excellence in life was unquestioned; a debate raged over whether it was set in our genes or due to experience. But here, suddenly, was a new way of thinking about the ingredients of life success." Here Dr. Goleman is saying that emotional intelligence is a newly discovered concept. Actually the ingredients of life success is wisdom which is at least as old as the Book of the Dead. Emotional intelligence is to the brain what blood is to the human body. Emotional intelligence at the undeveloped and/or misdeveloped level is ignorance and at the highest developed level is wisdom.
In spite of all the advancements in the knowledge of emotional intelligence we have still not figured out the true nature of emotional intelligence. There are now programs that teach emotional intelligence to young children. We teach emotional intelligence the same way we teach regular intelligence like math and science. The nature of emotional intelligence and the nature of regular intelligence are both very different from each other. Regular intelligence is the domain of the mind which thinks/comprehends in words while emotional intelligence is the domain of the brain that thinks through biochemical processes. So when we teach emotional intelligence through words the brain already has preconceived biased knowledge about the new-word/lesson being taught. So the brain takes the new lesson and alters it according to it's embedded knowledge thus biochemically understanding the new word in light of the old understanding of the new word. It is like the brain is a vessel in which one pours perfume. But the vessel is producing it's own stink/ignorance and so when the perfume/knowledge goes in it mixes with the stink and the result is a mixture of the two. Those brains that produce less stink will somewhat benefit by being taught through words while those brains that produce severe biochemical stink will overwhelm the perfume. Thus teaching emotional intelligence in the regular way has little effect on emotional intelligence education. What is needed is brain therapy that physically changes the brain into producing it's own perfume/knowledge.
This perfume that the brain needs to biochemically produce is none other than wisdom. We at the 4th R foundation have figured out that wisdom, which is super mature emotional intelligence is powered by selflessness. Ignorance is selfishness and education/knowledge is selflessness. Thus all we need to do is change the brain to biochemically process selflessness.
The super mature brain acts based on current reality while the premature, immature and to some extent the mature brain reacts based on emotional baggage processed prejudiced knowledge of this current reality. The bottom line is that the brain comprehends reality physically through biochemical reactions. The quality of these biochemical reactions depends on the maturity level of the brain. Thus the aim of emotional intelligence education is to make the physical brain super mature. The super mature brain is an emotional baggage free brain. Thus emotional intelligence education is removing the emotional baggage from the brain. As this baggage has physically changed the brain, emotional intelligence education is brain therapy. Brain therapy that transforms the brain into a super mature brain.
