Re-New System Announces Completion Of Phase 2 Construction Of Incheon International Airport

/EINPresswire.com/ Incheon International Airport of South Korea has won again the title of "Best Airport Worldwide" from the Airports Council International. It is the world`s first airport to win the industry's equivalent of the Nobel Prize for seven consecutive years. And Re-New system (en.re-new.co.kr) is proud to be involved in one of Korea's most important billion dollar infrastructure assets.
Incheon international Airport opened in 2001 and is recently completed its phase 2 construction with plans of another phase 3 expansion. Upon completion in 2020, it will be the largest airport in the world and the center of transportation for passengers and cargo in Northeast Asia. However, constructing the world's best airport wasn't started off easy.
The fact that the airport lies on reclaimed land on what used to be flood plains filling and emptying with the ocean tides wasn't the best place for such a structure to be built. Immediately after completing Phase 1 construction, a waterproofing system specified into the project has failed to withstand salt water conditions leading to severe water intrusion issues. In order to avoid the same mistake, project managers, in conjunction with the Korea Concrete Institute, conducted a series of tests with waterproofing systems available throughout the world. The conditions that will be present when the airport is fully completed require a product that can withstand hydrostatic pressure, chemical resistance, substrate movement, and a myriad of other harsh conditions.
After conducting rigorous tests like salt-water resistance, responsiveness to substrate movement, adhesiveness to the wet surface, temperature resistance, durability, water permeability test and more, Turbo-Seal was exclusively recommended by the engineers as the choice of waterproofing material to be used to establish the leak-free airport; Turbo-Seal outperformed its competitors' products in its ability to resist chemical and salt water attacks, absorb substrate movement, maintain adhesiveness to wet surfaces, and be durable while experiencing wide ranging temperature fluctuations. The resistance to weather fluctuations even allows Turbo-Seal to be applied during winter conditions which has been done successfully in the past. This not only shortens construction period but also cost-effective. And because of the aggressive schedule of construction that project managers have given, Turbo-Seal was ideally suited because of the rapidity of the application as well as the quality assurance of easy application.
Another recognized feature of Turbo-Seal is that if there were to be water intrusion issues after application, the waterproofing membrane can be easily repaired by simple Turbo-Seal injection grouting method, the proprietary repair technique of Renew System. It restores the integrity of the damaged waterproofing layer without having to destroy the surrounding concrete structures which most other waterproofing techniques require to do so. RENEW SYSTEM, in concert with Seoul National University of Technology, has developed Turbo Seal which is a flexible gel-type waterproofing material which never hardens and POLY-AS method, an innovative and long-lasting waterproofing method using Turbo Seal. This material has a remarkable ability to cure affected waterproofing layers itself and also highly responsive to any structural stresses. With its excellent features and superiority, it was appointed as the 376th New Technology by Ministry of Construction and Transportation in 2003 and the 560th New Technology by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs in 2008. Moreover, with our R&D and factory located in Yeoju, Renew System is striving to develop new waterproofing materials and methods like Turbo-sheet GTR, another advanved water proofing sheet material.
