Ross P. Lanzafame, Esq., Named Chair of the American Lung Association National Board of Directors

Rochester, N.Y., resident Ross P. Lanzafame has been named Chair of the American Lung Association’s National Board of Directors. He will serve a one-year term in this position and will work closely with the Lung Association’s national headquarters staff to advance the organization’s nationwide mission of saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.

Rizzo, M.D., Past Chair of the Board of the American Lung Association. “In passing the gavel to Ross, I am confident his leadership will help the American Lung Association nationwide reach new heights in its quest to improve lung health and prevent lung disease.”
Lanzafame is a partner at the law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery, LLP. He was a member of the American Lung Association’s National Board from 2006 to 2008, and its Nationwide Assembly from 2008 to 2011, serving as Assembly Speaker in 2010 to 2011. He brings to the Lung Association a wealth of expertise and skills in healthcare law, non-profit governance and non-profit corporation law, Medicare/Medicaid, corporate compliance and health facility operation and management.
Lanzafame joined the volunteer ranks of the American Lung Association more than 16 years ago with the local affiliate in Rochester, N.Y. Locally, he has served on various committees of the American Lung Association – Finger Lakes Region, and as its Board president. He also served as Chair of the Board of the statewide American Lung Association in New York from 2008 to 2010.
In addition to his service to the American Lung Association, Lanzafame is active in his profession as a member of the American Bar Association and as treasurer of the National Association of Chiropractic Attorneys. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and has served as chair of its Health Law Section.
Lanzafame is active within his community, serving as chair of Rochester Friendly Home, Inc. from 2010 to 2012; past chair of the Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc.; past vice president of the Cornell Alumni Association, Inc.; and as a member of the board of directors for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and for Western NY Wellness, Inc.
