The Amplifier was established in 1995 with the mission of promoting the arts in south central Kentucky. The Amplifier online was also established in that year, becoming the first media website in the area and one of Kentucky's earliest websites. The Amplifier was run as a home based business by Kim Mason publishing strictly local arts and entertainment content until May 2007.
