Sweden nominates Sigrún Rawet as Executive Director on World Bank Board of Directors

SWEDEN, May 10 - The Government has nominated Sigrún Rawet as Executive Director for the Nordic-Baltic constituency on the World Bank Board of Directors for the period 1 July 2024–30 June 2028.

Sigrún Rawet has extensive experience as a Swedish diplomat. She is currently head of the Department for Multilateral Development Banks, Sustainability and Climate at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and has previously been posted to the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York. She has also been Deputy Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute SIPRI and worked for the European Commission.

“I am happy to announce that we are nominating Sigrún Rawet as Executive Director on the World Bank Board of Directors. With her solid experience as a diplomat and her knowledge of the operations of development banks in particular, she is very well suited to the role,” says Minister for Finance Elisabeth Svantesson. 

The World Bank Executive Board of Directors has 25 seats, one of which is held by the Nordic-Baltic constituency, which includes Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. According to an agreement between the countries, it is Sweden’s turn to represent the constituency and coordinate the constituency’s activities during the period 1 July 2024–30 June 2028.
