RUSSIA, November 18 - The Deputy Prime Minister addressed a session of the APEC Leaders’ Week, Interconnectedness and Building Inclusive and Resilient Economies, in San Francisco.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk spoke at a session of the APEC Leaders’ Week, Interconnectedness and Building Inclusive and Resilient Economies.

Addressing the leaders of APEC economies, Alexei Overchuk emphasised the impact of global economic and trade risks on regional economies. He reminded the audience that the APEC forum was established in 1989 to consolidate trade and economic development. He urged those present to adhere to this policy and to work together prioritising sustainable and all-inclusive development of APEC economies.

“Russia aims to strengthen economic ties with APEC economies and seeks predictable trade, economic and investment efforts, as well as efficient work within the WTO,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Alexei Overchuk informed session participants that Russia is committed to creating favourable conditions for the operation of international supply chains, with ongoing development of the Far Eastern and Siberian transport infrastructure. Integrated logistics routes involving China and Southeast Asia contribute to the increased competitiveness of Asia Pacific economies. As a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, Russia collaborates with Asia Pacific economies to reduce trade barriers. The EAEU has already signed a free trade agreement with Vietnam and is in negotiations with Indonesia.

“The Russian side remains dedicated to making a constructive contribution to APEC activities. We plan to further cooperate in education, promote business operations among women and implement various other projects,” the Deputy Prime Minister said in his remarks.
