ABA President-Elect Highlights Role of Military Lawyers
WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 15, 2011 — American Bar Association President-Elect Wm. T. (Bill) Robinson III was sworn in to the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in a ceremony at the association’s Midyear Meeting in Atlanta. Robinson is member-in-charge of the Northern Kentucky offices of Frost Brown Todd LLC, a regional law firm with nine offices located in Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia and Indiana.
“I am deeply honored with the privilege of being admitted and licensed to represent military personnel in this court,” said Robinson, who is involved with ABA initiatives concerning active duty military and veterans. “Military lawyers work every day to uphold the rule of law and preserve our constitutional democracy. They are an essential component of the ABA’s membership.”
Robinson noted that the needs of military lawyers are an ABA priority, such that the organization has reduced dues for military lawyers and waived dues for military lawyers serving in combat zones.
USCAAF Chief Judge Andrew S. Effron and Herman F. Gierke III, the chair of the Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee of the ABA General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division, co-presided over the swearing in ceremony, Feb. 11.
Robinson, who has been an ABA member since 1972, will become ABA president for a one-year term in August 2011. He is a graduate of Thomas More College and the University of Kentucky College of Law, where in 2004 he was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame.
