PotashCorp Gives $1 Million for Babies and Families at RUH
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ─ PotashCorp President and CEO Bill Doyle today announced a $1 million gift to the Royal Vital Care Campaign in support of newborn babies and their families at Royal University Hospital. The gift will be used to purchase all of the necessary vital sign monitors for mothers in Labour & Delivery and for newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
“Over the years, we have learned that supporting the best medical care is one of the ways we can positively impact our home province,” said Doyle. “It is our hope that this gift will improve the standard of care available to RUH's youngest patients and their families – now and for years to come. We believe this is another way PotashCorp’s success can contribute to the growth and development of our community.”
PotashCorp’s gift of $1 million is the largest donation to date to the $2.8 million Royal Vital Care Campaign, an initiative of Royal University Hospital Foundation to purchase state-of-the-art vital sign monitors in all the critical care units at RUH. The vital sign monitors purchased today with this gift from PotashCorp will find a future home in the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan, which will be constructed adjacent to RUH.
“Since 1990, PotashCorp has been a generous contributor to RUH. When we needed funds for important initiatives, PotashCorp and its CEO Bill Doyle have shown great generosity and commitment to health care in our community. Today’s gift is part of that legacy,” said Arla Gustafson, CEO of RUH Foundation.
PotashCorp has donated more than $4 million for health care initiatives at RUH, including $1.5 million in matching gifts for the purchase of the first MRI in Saskatchewan and $1.5 million for creation of the PotashCorp Chair in Clinical Research. The partnership of PotashCorp is invaluable as Royal University Hospital Foundation strives to create excellence in health care by raising funds that anticipate and respond to needs for research, education and patient care at RUH.
