DART seeks firms for design and construction of CNG Stations; Bus fleet transitioning to new fuel

/EINPresswire.com/ Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is conducting a solicitation to identify firms that are qualified to design, build and modify facilities and fueling stations for its new fleet of CNG buses.

Representatives of interested firms should attend a meeting to discuss the qualification process on Thursday May 6 at DART's headquarters (1401 Pacific Dallas, Texas 75202). The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Attendance at the meeting is encouraged, but not a requirement for participating in the solicitation.

This project will include facility modifications for methane leak detection and fire protection at three bus garages and one garage for DART's paratransit vans. The contract will also include the design and installation of CNG fueling equipment at four locations for the agency's new fleet of CNG buses and paratransit vans. Responses to DART's Request for Qualifications are due May 24, 2010. DART expects to qualify firms in June 2010 that will be invited to submit proposals in fall of 2010 for their design and construction of these facilities. Contract award is planned for February of 2011 with all facilities completed by August 2012.
