Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick M. Shanahan met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim al-Thani today at the Munich Security Conference in Munich, Germany, to reaffirm the defense relationship between the United States and Qatar.
The leaders discussed a broad range of defense and regional issues, including Qatar’s generous offer to improve infrastructure at Al-Udeid Air Base.
Secretary Shanahan thanked Emir Tamim for his country’s commitment to partnering with U.S. military personnel and Qatar’s contributions to the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, as examples of our enduring defense relationship.
