Angola supports Guinea-Bissau electoral process

Luanda, ANGOLA, October 3 - Angola proposes to support the electoral process in Guinea-Bissau by signing an agreement with the United Nations through its representative in that West Africa country. ,

This is an agreement by third parties in which the Angolan Government places the amount in the UN banking coordinates in New York, which will channel to the electoral process in Guinea-Bissau.

Angola's support is a response to an appeal made by President José Mário Vaz at the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) summit held in Cape Verde from 17 to 18 July this year.

A press release from the Angolan Embassy to Guinea-Bissau, to which Angola had access today, reads that on that occasion, the Angolan diplomatic representative in that country, Daniel Rosa, highlighted the "discrete and effective" role developed by Ambassador José Viegas Filhos, special representative of the UN Secretary-General to Guinea-Bissau.

Daniel Rosa, who signed the agreement for Angola, said that the special representative of the UN Secretary-General has made efforts with the Angolan authorities to seek funding for the elections.
