New Librarian and Book Readers Resource Launches - BookSeries.org
The website BookSeries.org launches, listing authors and book series in chronological order.
The new website is called http://www.BookSeries.org and its goal is to list all authors and book series in both publication order and chronological order.
"We've did websites in the past similar to this," said CEO Graeme McGaw. "However nothing comes close to BookSeries.org in terms of resourcefulness."
Prior book websites by the team required a lot of manual work and effort. However 8am Beer Pong have created an entirely new book engine behind the scenes, which allows them to automate the entire process.
"Our goal first and foremost was to be the best resource for librarians", said McGaw. "I spoke to a lot of librarians prior to creating the site to make sure it met all of their needs and requirements."
The website provides a list of all books written by an author in both publication order and chronological order. There are also separate entries for various book series. So if you wanted to know the publication order of the Jack Reacher series for example it will list that. If you prefer to read the Jack Reacher series in chronological order it also lists that.
All of the book listings are available to print free of charge as well.
"That idea we got while we were in the libraries talking to librarians", McGaw said. "I saw people walking around with handwritten lists of books by a specific author and thought 'I could make life easier for them'".
That's the entire goal of the website - to make life easier for both librarians and book readers. Librarians are finding it a great resource which is helping them a lot in their day to day life.
"I've received a lot of positive feedback", McGaw said. "Librarians really seemed to appreciate that it was a no frills website without hoops to jump through. One click and you've got an authors entire bibliography."
One of the best features McGaw said, is how quickly the book listings are updated.
On prior websites ran by the team, they would have to stay updated on authors facebook pages for a new book mention, then manually add it. That's no longer the case.
"As soon as an ISBN is created, our system is notified and automatically adds it into the database".
This means that you will get the most up to date listings possible for an author. So if you were wondering what the next James Patterson book coming out was this would be the first place you would go to get it.
http://www.BookSeries.org currently lists over 500 authors and 500 book series with more being added every day.
"Our goal is to eventually have every author in the world on there", McGaw said. "This new system we are using actually makes that possible."
