Gen Z Film Critics Keeps Movie Reviewing Alive

/EINPresswire.com/ -- NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - September 29, 2016) - The New York Film Critics Series® (NYFCS®), the premiere U.S. screening company, is thrilled to announce an exciting new project to help keep film criticism remain essential, relevant and vital. The latest partnership with The Gen Z Critics (GZC) Club brings young film critics together, giving them a platform to broadcast their opinions while helping them to connect with fellow critics. This winter, the club will be hosting its first annual contest for aspiring film critics. Upon submission of their application, all applicants will automatically become members. Five winners will be chosen, and, upon selection, will have their reviews published. The website, www.genzcritics.com, serves as both a point of contact and archive for members.

"Betsy Kim approached us with her idea that skilled movie reviewers continue to be essential to be the accredited voices of record. Her passion to encourage a new generation of journalists to develop their credibility is an enormously exciting vision. We are delighted to be working with her team, which also includes Jami Ganz, another young superstar and budding film expert," says NYFCS Series Producer, Mark Ehrenkranz.

The team has created a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo HERE-so that it may cover expenses and grow with marketing and support. "Please help us with this dream of ours and unique opportunity to help young writers develop and earn immediate industry credibility," says Kim. "If this is successful, Gen Z Critics can be a trusted source by movie distributors to gain interest for their films with an extremely valuable age group," she added.

The NYFCS plans to utilize all current relationships along with their network of 65 independent theaters and industry resources to promote the success of GZC. Synergy includes live interaction with preeminent film critics and movie business professionals. Other opportunities will feature GZC members on-screen during national events as well as across all proprietary channels. On-line group chats and filmed sit-downs with notable journalists and other film professionals are also planned.

The NYFCS is partnered with the nation's leading independent cinemas to present live, in-theater events. The evenings are moderated by Peter Travers, Film critic for Rolling Stone Magazine and ABC's Popcorn. NYFCS offers screenings of movies before their theatrical release and presents big-screen HD broadcasts with the stars and filmmakers. www.nyfilmcriticsseries.com

NYFCS® takes place exclusively in theaters and is never available on TV nor online. The events, including interviews and interactive audience involvement, are HD broadcasted to numerous markets so that everyone throughout the country can enjoy up close and personal moments with major movie stars, producers, writers and directors in the comfort of their own neighborhood theater. Each screening brings the energy and VIP nature of prestigious NYC screenings to nationwide audiences.
