Crystals and Lasers exhibition opens at Unexpected
Phoenix, Ariz., 21 June, 2016 – On First Friday, July 1, 2016, the exhibition Crystals and Lasers will open to the public at Unexpected in Downtown Phoenix, featuring photography and video works produced by artist Francisco Flores in collaboration with Adam Wheeler, David Guerrero, Kait Waldo and Robert Farthing. The exhibit will be open through the month of July and during the first twenty-one days special events, inspired by meditation and intentional practice towards well-being, will be taking place. Check Unexpected’s website for the calendar of events.
The exhibition is a documentation of a meditative ceremony integrating quartz crystals and laser light. Crystals are used for healing in various cultures and traditions. Light, both physical and metaphorical, evokes sacred space and experience. Pairing crystals with fractal light, Flores aims to somatically amplify the moment of meditation and self-realization. In merging technology with spiritual practice, Flores aims to create spaces to deepen connections with oneself, reengage with the natural world, and challenge our understanding of sacred spaces. Coinciding on First Friday, July 1st, be sure to join us at Unexpected as we partner with Sonoran Art League for a free art class open to Veterans from 5 to 7 PM.
