14-Bed Unit Is the First Hospital-Based Hospice Unit Located in Washington, DC

/EINPresswire.com/ -- WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - April 18, 2016) - Capital Caring, one of the oldest and largest nonprofit hospice and palliative care organizations in the country, opened its third inpatient hospice location last week. The 14-bed Capital Caring Center, located within Providence Hospital in NE Washington, joins the Capital Caring Halquist Center and the Adler Center for Caring in Arlington and Aldie, VA, respectively, in providing world-class care to those with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Hospice utilization rates in Washington, DC are amongst the lowest in the country, with slightly more than one out of every three individual who qualifies for the specialized care receiving it. In a majority of cases, Medicare's Hospice Benefit or commercial insurance plans make advanced illness care services available at no cost.
