Can HPV Trigger Psoriasis? The CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

A case report details “a case of psoriasis which probably could have been triggered by genital warts (HPV infection).” (1)

There is evidence that Psoriasis could also be triggered by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

“Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Dr. Jain and colleagues wrote in a recent case study that “Psoriasis is an autoimmune chronic inflammatory skin disease. The etiological factors for psoriasis are a genetic predisposition, trauma, infections, drugs, sunlight, stress, alcohol, smoking, HIV, and AIDS.” (1) However, at least in some cases, there is evidence that Psoriasis could also be triggered by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

In the case described by Dr. Jain, “a 20-year-old unmarried, male patient, farmer by occupation presented with multiple scaly, erythematous plaques of various sizes … present over the both upper limbs, lower limbs, back, and scalp; multiple scaly lesions over both palms and soles since 1½ months … he also had multiple soft, pink colored, and papilliferous masses of condyloma acuminata (genital warts) over the coronal sulcus (the head of the penis) extending over glans since 2 months.” (1)

Another study published in The Journal of Pathology in January 2006 said that “In addition to cancers, cutaneous (skin infected) HPVs have also been detected … in the development of psoriasis (2).”

Another study showed that “HPV types 5 and 36 were detected at high frequency in children with psoriasis (3).” In further studies, HPV 5 was also “detected at high frequency in psoriatic plaques (4).” Yet another study showed that “HPV DNA positivity in plucked hairs from psoriatic patients undergoing PUVA treatment (was) also been noted (5).”

For those individuals who may be concerned about an infection with the latent HPV, the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce HPV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HPV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (6) The study authors also wrote that “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (6)

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites, here:

Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims. Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.

Are there other treatments or remedies available against the HPV?

“There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus (this is before the HPV has caused cancer). The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission.” (6)

However, the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was shown to safely and effectively reduce HPV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. Additionally, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent human papillomavirus.
