Plan to minimize homelessness in Salt Lake City receives Intermountain Healthcare support

Donation will help build and expand community resources

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, USA, January 12, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams announced an Intermountain Healthcare community contribution to assist the county’s initiative to minimize homelessness.

Mayor McAdams joined representatives from the Fourth Street Clinic to announce a $500,000 community contribution from Intermountain Healthcare to assist the county’s initiative to address homelessness and the challenges the homeless face in the county. Intermountain will support healthcare delivery for homeless individuals and families.

“Intermountain Healthcare’s donation is the best Christmas gift we could hope for, as we bring private and nonprofit partners together in the cause of minimizing homelessness,” said Mayor McAdams. “One of our 14 agreed-to outcomes in the homelessness initiative is to meet the basic needs of those in crisis and nothing is more basic than helping the homeless receive healthcare.”

“We are excited to partner with Salt Lake County to build and expand community resources to improve the health and well-being of at-risk individuals and families,” said Mikelle Moore, Intermountain Community Benefit vice president. “Intermountain’s goal of helping people to live the healthiest lives possible extends to everyone. With Salt Lake County, we hope to support community organizations that improve prevention, detection, and management of chronic diseases, including low income and homeless people who are even more vulnerable to these conditions.”

As a not-for-profit organization, Intermountain Healthcare recognizes the value of collaborating with other community organizations to further its mission. Community Contributions are prioritized according to need and alignment with Intermountain community health priorities as determined by ongoing community health needs assessments conducted under the leadership of Intermountain’s Community Benefit Department. Helping people live the healthiest lives possible, Intermountain is widely recognized as a leader in clinical quality improvement and in efficient healthcare delivery.
