Photos: Georgia Corn Maze Pays Tribute to Coca-Cola

In 2011, a popular tourist attraction in Loganville, Ga. got a little, well, corny when it toasted the 125th anniversary of Coca-Cola by carving its 7-acre field into the iconic shape of the iconic Coke bottle.

“We did generic corn mazes for our first few years in business – including a Wild West theme – but that year we decided to do something all of our guests could really relate to,” said owner Misty Duren, who opened Corn Dawgs in 2008. “And with Coke’s Southern heritage and the fact that they were celebrating a milestone, we decided it was a great time to celebrate the brand.”

Corn Dawgs, located about 40 miles east of Atlanta, partnered with a firm that specializes in corn maze designs to bring the Coca-Cola concept to life. After using computer software to design the contour-shaped maze, a tractor armed with a GPS tracking device spent a full day plowing a curvy, five-ft.-wide path through rows of seven-ft.-tall stalks.

Duren said guests spent about an hour, on average, making their way through the three miles of pathway.

“They loved it!” she added. “We had a Coca-Cola Day where guests could save $2 if they wore their Coke-branded apparel.”

Corn Dawgs features a new maze design every fall, plus more than 25 other family activities including hayrides, a petting zoo, gem mining and a mountain slide. Duren said up to 35,000 people visit the property each year between late-September and early-November.

“Families love to make it out to the country and enjoy the weather and activities that come along with fall here in a farm environment,” she added.
