WASHINGTON, D.C., July 11, 2013 – The American Bar Association Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division (GPSolo ) will honor Seattle lawyer Llewelyn G. Pritchard with its Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement Award at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Marines’ Memorial Club Hotel in San Francisco. 

The award, which recognizes solo and small-firm lawyers who are widely accepted by their peers for having significant lifetime distinction and exceptional achievement, will be presented at the GPSolo Division’s Military Dining Out event during the ABA Annual Meeting. 

“We are proud to honor Llew G. Pritchard with the Solo and Small Firm Lifetime Achievement Award due to a lifetime dedication to the legal profession and his continuous pursuit of instilling positive change and awareness on social justice and civil liberties,” GPSolo Chair Benes Z. Aldana said. “In February 2013, he was re-elected to serve a seventh term on the board of ABA’s House of Delegates.” 

Pritchard is a partner in the Seattle law firm of Helsell Fetterman LLP and specializes in family law. 

His leadership roles within the ABA include serving as a member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee; chair of the Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities; and a member of the councils of the Family Law Section, Young Lawyers Division and Senior Lawyers Division. Pritchard is a former chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Legal Aid and Indigent Defendants, the ABA Immigration Pro Bono Development Project and Bar Activation Program, and the groundbreaking ABA Legal Needs Study.  

Pritchard currently serves as the chair of the counselors of the ABA Center for Human Rights, a member of the board of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, and a delegate-at-large to the ABA House of Delegates. Pritchard is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Young Lawyers Division.  

Among his other accomplishments, Pritchard received the Drinan Distinguished Service Award from the ABA Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities (2010), the Allies for Justice Award from the National LGBT Bar Association (2011) and the Learned Hand Award from the American Jewish Committee Seattle (2011). He was named in Top Lawyers, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. 

Pritchard received his J.D. from the Duke University Law School.
