Arch Coal Foundation Honors Eight Area Teachers with Golden Apple Awards Certificates
PRICE, Utah, May 21, 2013 - The Arch Coal Foundation honored eight Utah classroom teachers today with Golden Apple Awards certificates.
The Golden Apple Awards are part of the Arch Coal Foundation's Teacher Achievement Awards program, which honored five outstanding Utah teachers earlier this month. Golden Apple Award recipients earned finalist status in the program, distinguishing them as the top tier of the 2013 nominees along with those recognized as Teacher Achievement Award recipients.
This is the seventh year of the foundation's teacher recognition program in Carbon, Emery, Sanpete and Sevier counties, which surround the Skyline, Sufco and Dugout Canyon mines operated by Canyon Fuel Company, a subsidiary of Arch Coal.
"We are proud to recognize these outstanding teachers and all they do for the children of our communities," said Rick Parkins, general manager of the Dugout Canyon mine. "We admire the dedication of the Golden Apple recipients."
Educators are nominated for the awards by members of the public and selected by a panel of previous award winners. Honorees receive certificates of achievement.

The teacher recognition awards are underwritten by the Arch Coal Foundation.
