Prime Minister Golob: "The solidarity of the whole of Slovenia is remarkable"
SLOVENIA, July 23 - The Prime Minister first thanked all who had contributed to the construction of the new home, the Municipality of Slovenj Gradec, the Pergola company from Radlje and the many donors.
"Slovenia is a beautiful country, but the beauty of nature has two sides, including the untamed side, which revealed its raw power last year, even here in the Koroška region." The response and solidarity of the whole Slovenia is remarkable, something that only Slovenians are capable of. In our solidarity, let us not forget those who need help," said the Prime Minister. He added that the house that will become a new home for the family is proof of our solidarity.
The response last year was swift and the politicians were not divided, the Prime Minister said. "We developed the necessary legislative amendments and provided funding first for emergency measures, followed by post-flood reconstruction and development. Our commitment was not just to rebuild what had been destroyed, but to create new conditions that would be significantly better. And these conditions are now in place," the Prime Minister continued. Today, this family's younger generation is being given an opportunity for a fresh start, and not at the expense of the older generation, he added. "I find this to be an important symbolic message of how Slovenia's solidarity manifests itself – by including all generations."
The Prime Minister went on saying that due to Slovenia's geographical location we could expect weather disasters in the future; however, he also underlined our solidarity, which had been shown both in the floods and the fires in the Karst region. "We have shown that the state can react much faster to such crises if it is properly prepared, organised and equipped. I believe that all post-flood recovery measures taken by the state are heading in this direction, ensuring that we will be better prepared to face potential floods in the future. This means that we need a little more patience for the experts to do their job," the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Golob wished all generations of this family, who are about to receive a new home today, a safe journey through life. He thanked everyone who helped this family to get the keys to the House of New Beginnings. The Prime Minister concluded by saying that this should be an example for the whole of Slovenia.
