Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a stream advisory for Hill Creek, 142 Creek, Elm Creek and the Northwestern Confluence of Melvern Lake located South of Allen in Osage County, Kansas.
The stream advisory is a result of a raw sewage release from the city of Allen’s wastewater treatment plant due to extreme flooding, The city of Allen is working to address the source problem.
The advisory has been issued because potential elevated bacteria and contaminants may be present in Hill Creek, 142 Creek, Elm Creek and the Northwestern confluence of Melvern Lake in Osage County, Kansas. If you live or have activities near these segments of the Creeks and Lake, do not enter the water or allow children or pets to enter the water.
