The Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture, Her Excellency Tumusiime Rhoda Peace will address delegates at the Agri Logistics East Africa Summit
CAPE TOWN, WESTERN PROVINCE, SOUTH AFRICA, February 8, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture, Her Excellency Tumusiime Rhoda Peace will address delegates at the forthcoming Agri Logistics East Africa Summit, co-located with the eAgri East Africa Summit, taking place at The Hilton Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday 28 February 2017.Rhoda Peace will chair and moderate a high-level keynote session that will focus on the creation of an enabling environment for agricultural development in East Africa.
An esteemed panel will debate on issues such as regulation and enforcement requirements for improved market access and trade. The implications of Brexit and the recent US election for East Africa and ALGOA have an enormous impact on agriculture in particular and this promises to be a hot debated topic.
Other issues to be debated and discussed in the panel include the importance of new innovations in technology to ensure traceability and transparency in the supply chain and the impact of public nutrition and food safety awareness campaigns on the supply chain.
Another issue to be debated and discussed includes investment needs and opportunities in seaports, inland depots and terminals, airports, roads and railways. Says Programme Director, Nico Loretz: “Africa's economies are growing, but poor infrastructure, lack of appropriate transport systems, and a lack of refrigerated transport and storage still persist and causes major supply chain delays while the small-scale farmer suffers most”.
