Joshua Pastore Announces Participation in Harvard Model UN Conference

/EINPresswire.com/ In the spring of 2012, Joshua Pastore participated in the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference held in Boston. Joshua Pastore was one of 13 students asked to represent High Point University in this event.

"Throughout the year, my team and I have been practicing for our roles in the Model UN Conference," says Joshua Pastore. "We would be meeting other students from all across the world, including some incredibly prestigious schools, so we wanted to be prepared and seem as though we knew what we were doing."

All told, more than 3,500 students participated in the event, and other schools who sent delegates included West Point, Yale, Cornell and Princeton. Over 35 countries participated in the conference as well.

Participating in the Harvard Model UN Conference was a remarkable experience for Joshua Pastore.

"In order to get anything done in the UN, you have to know how to collaborate and make deals. It's hard to figure out how to do that without completely selling out your own country," says Joshua Pastore. "I walked away from this experience with a deep respect for the people who work in the UN. I had no idea how difficult the job would really be. It seems must less complicated from the outside."

Joshua Pastore believes that the lessons he learned through his participation will stick with him as he moves from the educational environment to the business world.

"I know that I'll be asked to collaborate, work with others, make deals and bargain on behalf of the companies I work for," says Joshua Pastore. "That's just part of working in the modern business world. Since I have some experience in these tasks, I think I'm better prepared to succeed once I enter the workforce. This really was a valuable experience for me."

About Joshua Martin Pastore

When Joshua Martin Pastore was attending the Temple B'nai Chaim in 2007, he was often encouraged to help those who were less fortunate. Building up a community and supporting those around you is a cornerstone of the Jewish faith, and it was a lesson that Joshua Pastore took to heart. That's why he agreed to participate in a community service project at Open Door Shelter, along with the rest of the members of his confirmation class.
