Champion AC Announces Launch of San Antonio Energy Champions Program to Promote Energy Efficiency
/EINPresswire.com/ San Antonio Energy Champions, a program established by Champion AC to educate the public about the importance of energy efficiency, will launch its inaugural Energy Champions Building Competition on Sun., April 1, 2012. The competition will run through the year, with the completion date of March 31, 2013.
The energy efficiency competition is a new aspect of the SAEC initiative and will provide businesses and buildings in San Antonio the chance to improve their energy efficiency and move the Alamo City toward a greener future. The building that demonstrates the greatest percentage-based reduction in weather-normalized energy use intensity during the 12-month performance period will be recognized as the inaugural winner. Measurements will be made by percentage of reduction of kwH.
"Whether you are in a school, hotel or office building, we want to encourage San Antonians in leading Texas toward a more energy efficient future," said SAEC founder, Ben Hubbert. "Both Mayor Castro and CPS Energy have set goals to put our city at the top of the list when it comes to energy efficiency. We hope this competition will assist in those efforts."
Each participating entity will be required to send a copy of the monthly kwH reading on its energy bill (or a copy of the full bill) to the SAEC contact. The bills will not be shared publicly, in order to preserve privacy for the companies. The only public information shared will be the overall percentage change in kwH at the end of the competition. SAEC aspires to make an impact locally and on a wider scale, in hopes that other cities will join in the energy efficient movement and take steps toward greener living.
There is no registration fee for the competition, and the final registration deadline is March 30, 2012. Entry forms can be found online at sanantonioenergychampions.com.
