Bachmann Supports New Cybersecurity Legislation

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), gave her support today for the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011. HPSCI Chairman Mike Rogers (MI-08) and Ranking Member Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02) introduced the bipartisan legislation today in the House of Representatives. Bachmann joined many of her HPSCI colleagues as original cosponsors. Bachmann said of the legislation:

“Our nation’s private sector is constantly targeted by cyber attacks. I am confident that the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 will help private sector entities protect and safeguard intellectual property and sensitive information through voluntary measures. The bill will accomplish its purpose by eliminating existing legal and policy barriers between government and trusted private entities.”

The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 has the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and private information technology companies.
