Sky Technologies Teams with SAP and Sybase to Develop and Deliver Enterprise Mobility Applications

SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) and global enterprise mobility solution provider, Sky Technologies (Sky), today announced plans to jointly develop and manage the deployment of new enterprise mobility solutions, leveraging the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP), one of the first fully integrated mobile enterprise application platforms (MEAPs) that allows developers to create and manage multiple mobile applications that securely connect a variety of back-end data sources to all major device types.

Sky will provide SAP customers with proven business mobility applications which can be accessed via Sky's innovative Secure Container. A first of its kind innovation, the container provides encryption, identity management, data profiling and true configure-once, deploy-anywhere capability. It runs on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows and can be easily implemented from private and public app stores. It will offer robust, industry-strength interface management from within the SAP environment, ensuring total visibility and end-to-end management of all SAP transactions from a central dashboard.

Further solutions in the SAP Mobility suite of applications will help Sky Technologies to further extend its offering. The SAP Gateway will provide a secure application server, simplifying integration with SAP back-end applications and removing the need for extensive experience in SAP integration.

Sky will furthermore deploy Sybase's industry leading mobile device and application management solution, Afaria, to extend its device administration competence with a range of security capabilities such as locking or wiping a device in the case of loss or theft. Afaria enables companies to fully manage and secure a wide range of personal and corporate smartphones and tablets, including Android, iOS, Windows Mobile and more, in both hosted and behind-the-firewall environments.

Combining SAP's software offering and Sky extensions will enable businesses to align their mobile strategy with SAP and utilise Sky's expertise in the development and implementation of robust mobile applications. Enterprise managed mobility allows large companies to integrate mobile devices such as smartphones into existing SAP applications as a service, enabling information access and business transactions from outside the walls of the enterprise with little complexity, minimal setup time, no infrastructure requirements and at a low cost to the organisation.

Andrew Fox, Head of Mobility Solutions for SAP ANZ, said: "Sky Technologies is a trusted mobility solutions provider backed by more than 13 years of experience in mobilising traditional SAP software. With mobile applications now becoming core to many internal business functions we are in an ideal position to help businesses transform the way they are run. Today's announcement expands on the longstanding relationship and strong foundation that Sky Technologies and SAP have built over the years. Sky's expertise and SAP's mobile strategy and capabilities make a powerful combination."

Troy O'Connor, CEO of Sky Technologies said: "It's exciting to see our product roadmap, which embraces technology from both Sybase and SAP, aligning with SAP's mobility strategy. As a long time SAP partner our customers have seen the value that we've been able to deliver. Now, with the SUP platform we can develop applications and offer customers mobility solutions that are secure, mobile and cloud based. End users will now have access to a rich user interface with integrated native and web based applications which are synchronised automatically and populated with data that is stored and transmitted securely."

Sybase, which was acquired by SAP last year, has more than 20,000 mobility customers and 4,000 employees worldwide, and is recognised globally as a performance leader in delivering enterprise and mobile software to manage, analyse and mobilise information.
