Karel Schwarzenberg to have funeral with state honours, government approved

CZECH REPUBLIC, December 1 - Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech government and one of the most prominent figures in post-November Czech politics, Karel Schwarzenberg, will be buried with state honours. The decision was made by Prime Minister Petr Fiala through a roll call vote on Friday 1 December 2023.

Former Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg died at the age of 85 on Sunday 12 November. His funeral, coordinated by the Office of the President of the Republic, will take place on Saturday 9 December. The commemoration ceremony will take place at 12:00 pm in St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle with state honours. The government unanimously agreed on this decision today.
