On June 19, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov held talks with the Director of the UN Multi-Country Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Austria, Freya von Groote.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN were discussed. In this context, the parties expressed a common opinion on the high level of interaction on the widest range of issues on the international agenda.
It was emphasized that, within the framework of its mandate, UNOPS implements joint work with the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN system in terms of improving the efficiency of activities in the field of servicing international projects.
In this context, R.Meredov noted the role of UNOPS in assisting the Government of Turkmenistan to accelerate the implementation of programs and projects in the framework of the implementation of national development goals and identify areas of cooperation.
Priority areas of interaction are projects in the field of healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, green and digital transition, environmental protection and climate change.
The parties exchanged views on the issues of improving the professional training of national personnel.
