The expansion will result in a 15% increase in tourist traffic, to increase annual air cargo volumes to 4.5 million.

The airports will be powered by renewable energy and will be Platinum LEED certified. The number of international flights will rise to 250 from 99. This significant development will position Saudi Arabia as a key player in the aviation industry. “Our main objective is to increase the number of arrivals to the kingdom, we are not after the transit market,” said a civil aviation spokesperson.
