Scotmid Coop Upgrades its Aisles with SOLUM ESL
Scotmid Coop, the largest independent cooperative in Scotland decided to implement SOLUM ESL across their stores in partnership with Herbert Retail Limited.
SCOTLAND, UK, January 11, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Scotmid Co-operative, more known as Scotmid Coop, is the largest independent cooperative in Scotland. Since 1859, Scotmid Coop stores and groceries have been at the heart of Scottish communities, providing high-quality food and produce to Scottish families. As of 2022, Scotmid Coop has around 350 retail outlets across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the North of England.
As a successful cooperative relied upon by numerous consumers and co-owners, Scotmid needed an efficient business solution that can help the stores cope with the demands of their shoppers and the needs of their employees. Scotmid also required a system and strategy that can bring the best performance and customer service in every Scotmid store outlet.
For these requirements, the Scotmid team decided to implement SOLUM Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) and solutions across their stores in partnership with Herbert Retail Limited.
“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen by Scotmid,” says Claire Herbert, Managing Director of Herbert Retail Limited. “We’ve been working for electronic shelf labels for over ten years… Scotmid has been a really good customer to work with.”
The Scotmid Coop and Herbert Retail team are very pleased with SOLUM ESL features and how much the labels transformed Scotmid’s business operations. The team is impressed with the Newton labels’ 10-year battery life, programmable buttons, and overall physical design. The labels’ seven-page feature also gave Scotmid heads and managers many ideas for future options in development.
“We are already looking at pick-by-light to support in-store picking for our home delivery service,” says Stewart Dobbie, the Head of Innovation and Change at Scotmid Coop. “Possibly using the LED to associate with negative stock outs or date expiry.”
The Scotmid store staff are also very happy with the upgrade and even experienced a boost of morale now that the paper tickets were replaced by ESLs that have automated price updates.
As of press time, the Scotmid Co-operative is very excited about the number of ESL uses they could explore in the future.
