South and Central Asia: U.S. Diplomats Travel in Pakistan (Taken Question)

Question: Can we confirm that four U.S. diplomats were stopped earlier this week traveling to Peshawar because they lacked proper travel documentation?

Answer: Media reports about U.S. diplomats being stopped on their way into Peshawar this week are untrue. The source of these inaccurate reports appears to be the reprint of a story that ran on July 18. No such incidents have occurred this week. We are working with the Government of Pakistan to ensure U.S. diplomats continue to be free to travel.
