SoftLayer Technologies, an information technology company, has signed an agreement to purchase 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of Texas wind power beginning in October 2011. The renewable energy certificates (RECs) will be supplied by Green Mountain Energy Company and are equivalent to 10 percent of the electricity used at six of SoftLayer's Texas data centers.
