Polls remain open until April 22 for ALA 2011 election

CHICAGO – Polls are still open for the 2011 American Library Association (ALA) election, in which members will choose their new president- elect and council members.

The polls will close at 11:59 p.m. CST on April 22. The Election Committee will meet to certify the results on April 29.

Voting is one of the most important things you can do as a member,” said ALA Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels. “The President represents all of us as members, whether doing hundreds of media interviews each year or helping to guide the association through financial opportunities and challenges.”

Members of specific divisions/sections and roundtables will be voting for officers and committee members.

Although the 2011 election is being conducted online, there remains one exception. Members with a disability and no Internet access may request a paper ballot by contacting ALA customer service at 1 (800) 545-2433, ext. 5.  The deadline for requesting a paper ballot is April 8.

For more information on the election, call (800) 545-2433, ext. 5, or e-mail membership@ala.org.
