AJC Condemns Moscow Airport Terror Bombing

January 24, 2011 – New York – AJC condemned today's tragedy at Moscow's largest international airport, Domodedovo. At least 35 people were killed and 130 injured in an attack that had all the markings of terrorism.

"Russia is no stranger to such deadly assaults, which deserve swift and universal condemnation," said AJC Executive Director David Harris.

"Previously, Russia experienced ruthless terrorist attacks by Chechen separatists on its subway system and in other public gathering places, including deadly midair explosions,” said Harris. “All people of good will must stand together in the face of those who pursue terrorist strategies of murder and mayhem, as occurred at Domodedovo. Our thoughts are with the families of those who were killed and our hopes are for a full recovery of the wounded."

AJC has long maintained active ties with Russia, frequently visiting Moscow to meet with government and other officials.
