Maine PUC Issues RFP for Green Power Standard Offer
The Maine Public Utilities Commission has issued an RFP seeking proposals to launch and manage a statewide green power offer. The RFP is in response to a law signed in 2009 by Governor Baldacci requiring the PUC to establish a green power offer. The offer must provide either 50 percent or 100 percent of a customer's monthly usage.
The selected supplier may be required to apply to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for the voluntary renewable energy set-aside under the state's Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative CO2 budget program.
