WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after the House passed a one month extension of the current Medicare physician payment rates:

"I am pleased that today the House passed a one-month extension of the current Medicare physician payment rates and will now send the bill to the President’s desk for his signature.

“This short-term legislation was needed to allow Congress to continue our work on a longer-term solution - one which provides our seniors with the security of continued access to the physician of their choice and our physicians with at least one full year of SGR relief. I hope Congressional Republicans will join our efforts to secure passage of at least one year of relief prior to the end of this calendar year.”
