Motorola Wins Florida Radio System Contract

July 13, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) has closed a $2.9 million contract with the Orlando Utilities Commission to provide a suite of dispatch consoles, control stations and portable and mobile radios for a new radio system utilizing Orange County’s existing Motorola network.

The company said that, by using the existing county network infrastructure, OUC, a municipal utility, will reduce costs while improving communications with a fully interoperable system.

As part of the agreement, OUC will deploy eight Motorola consoles, 15 control stations and a combination of 700 digital portable and mobile radios. The consoles, which will be installed at OUC’s Pershing dispatch center and two remote locations, provide communications between two-way radios, telephones and auxiliary resources.

Orlando Utilities Commission provides electric and water services to more than 254,000 customers in Orlando and St. Cloud, as well as parts of Orange and Osceola counties in Florida.

Schaumburg, Illinois-based Motorola posted sales of $30.1 billion in 2008.
