April Traffic Down For Delta Air Lines

economys_impact_225px-w_bwMay 7, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) said that traffic for both the carrier’s Delta and Northwest operations decreased 7.7 percent in April compared to April 2008, on a 7.1 percent decrease in capacity. The company’s load factor declined 0.5 points, to 81.4 percent.

The company’s domestic traffic decreased seven percent year over year on a 6.9 percent decrease in capacity. Domestic load factor declined 0.1 point to 83.1 percent. Delta’s international traffic decreased 8.9 percent year over year on a 7.2 percent decrease in capacity, and load factor declined 1.4 points to 78.6 percent.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines operates from hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam and Tokyo-Narita airports.
